Andy Hallinon awarded Life Membership at Burleigh Heads Palm Beach
Former club president Andy Hallinon has been awarded Life Membership of Burleigh Heads Palm Beach Croquet Club at the AGM. It is only the seventh such award since the club began in 1950.
urleigh Heads Palm Beach Croquet Club has awarded Life Membership to former club president Andy Hallinon.
The highlight of the BHPB Croquet Club AGM was the awarding of Life Membership to Andy. The Life Membership award has only been issued six times previously since the club's inception in 1950.
Former club president Dave Luxmoore noted the important contributions that Andy has made, not just to our club, but to CAQ in his many years associated with the game of croquet.
As a member of our club, Andy encouraged the development of players and ran coaching sessions on strategy and technique for Golf Croquet. Andy was quick to spot potential in players and would provide advice and bring in top ranked players to enhance that potential. He also encouraged members to enhance their skills outside play by getting them to take on active roles on the club committee and becoming qualified tournament referees.
When Andy joined the club in 2010, we had no branding or club uniform. Andy developed several logo options and the one we use today was ultimately selected. This logo was added to a shirt to provide the club uniform – which Andy also organised.
Communication has been a central part of his roles in the club. After being club president for three years, he remained on the management committee and took up the role of publicity and promotions officer. He developed the use of regular emails to members; instigated weekly questions and answers on croquet during Covid; regularly posted in the clubhouse photographs of members' achievements and club highlights; and over 10 years, submitted items with photos for every issue of "Croquet News".
Positions held by Andy in croquet include:
- President of BHPB Croquet Club for three years - Vice President Croquet Association Queensland (CAQ) – almost two years - State Director Golf Croquet Referees – five years - Member CAQ Publicity Committee for 10 years - President of Noosa Croquet Club for two years – five years on their committee
In all these endeavours Andy has always acknowledged the support and advice of his wife Anthea.
Congratulations Andy.
